Description

The OmniCam is a mirror-based multi-camera system that was developed at Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute (HHI). Since the presentation of the first OmniCam in 2009, the system is constantly developed and updated. Because of this continuous optimization process, it is possible to realize high-resolution 360 ° video projections in 2D and 3D.

The new technology of the OmniCam already attracted numerous high-profile partners from the fields of business, art, culture, and media. Fraunhofer HHI can look back on a multitude of exciting and successful productions that have been realized with the OmniCam. Due to the high-resolution video content the OmniCam generates, the camera stands out from other panoramic cameras (the products of potential competitors).

In addition, the Fraunhofer HHI developed the technology to transfer the video material in real-time to terminal devices – the spectrum reaches from TV monitors to virtual reality glasses (VR glasses).

Because of the live transmission technology and the high quality and resolution of the video panoramas, the OmniCam can satisfy the ever-growing demand for immersive media technologies!
